Independence Day in India

Independence Day is the day when people in India pay an honor to sacrifices to their leaders who fought to liberalize the nation from the British Rule. 66 years back, on 15th August’ 1947, India was born as a sovereign nation and made a mark in the glorious history on India.
Though we are aware of relevance of the date 15th August and the significance apprehended to it, but it is very gloomy to observe that with time the importance of the day seems to be diminishing. For many of us the day is restricted only to flying kites and enjoying the holiday, but the question is do we actually realize the true meaning of the day. Are we actually aware of the sacrifices made by our martyrs to liberalize our nation from the British rule? And if the answer is yes, then up to what extent are we regarding the independence that is bestowed to us by our combatants. The day our nation became independent, we pledged to respect this freedom we had been craving for over the years. But have we actually been able to pay back for the sovereignty we have been conferred. It is true that our nation has considerably developed in various sectors but the other side of the story says that these developments have been accompanied by the negative traits as well. The time has come when we should be true to our nation and contribute by playing our role of action. Saying no to corruption, overcoming racism, sexual discrimination are a few ways in which we can actually make our nation independent in true sense. Let us get together an liberalize our nation from the pessimistic gist once again.
